Background

Beautiful English rolling countryside, you, the team, full logistic support, all you have to do is run. The trail is on footpaths covering about 36 miles over 2 days. This is a new version of the previous 50 mile event we used to organise. Whether you are new to running trails or whether you are a veteran, this will be an amazing weekend of running and is an ideal event to see how you would fare on one of the more mountainous adventures in the Alps. As always spaces are limited, so sign up now!

The Chiltern Hills, just 30 minutes North West of London, offer a stunning location for this spring and autumn time run. Leaving Tring station, accessed by main line rail on Saturday morning you’ll be led as a small team through the country footpaths to Bledlow Ridge. The local English Athletics qualified Run Leaders will show you the way, so you can enjoy the scenery, focus on your running and style. The path winds along a quiet trail through deep woods, grassy ridges and steep hills as well as through hamlets mainly seen in period dramas. 18 miles later and a few hills behind you, it’s time to get to the accommodation for a hot shower, a few drinks and dinner. Unlike races we emphasise the social aspect of our events. There will be plenty of time to chat about your running past and ambitions with your team members.

Following a good night sleep in a comfortable bed and a hot breakfast, you’ll be ready to take on the second day where we follow a different route back through Chiltern Hills. The trails undulate along grassy outlooks, through beech and oak woods and through more tiny English villages. 36 miles completed and you will be rewarded with a RtW tech shirt.

Accommodation & Transport

Accommodation on the Saturday night will be at the comfortable Peacock Country Inn near Bledlow. Rooms are on a twin sharing basis unless you request for a single room at a supplemental rate. You will need to arrange your own transport to Tring Station, but there are regular trains from London Euston which take around 40 minutes.

Ability

We will group participants by their ability but you need to be able to be on your feet for around 5 hours per day and ideally have run close to a marathon distance in the past. Please click here to see how we define grades. Multi-day experience is helpful but not essential. You will be expected to carry the essential kit from our UK KIT LIST but this will be a pretty light bag allowing you to run freely. The Lead Runner will route find and as all with our expeditions you will be expected to run as part of the team.

Reviews

"A fantastic running weekend! Challenging, beautiful, and with an excellent group and leader. A brilliant way to spend 2 run-filled days!" Nick - May 2015

"I wanted to thank you for the amazing experience last weekend. For me the whole idea of exploring places, without being under any time pressure was fantastic. To have the whole day to run, talk, walk, munch, laugh, cry and make friends was extremely special and like nothing I have experienced before. I was proud of us all... Thank you for making this such a memorable weekend..." Nicky - May 2015

"It was great to meet new people. The team from Run the Wild were very friendly and incredibly supportive. I'd thoroughly recommend their services to anyone who enjoys running!" Neil - May 2015

"A thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Great views, well stocked aid stations and excellent advice was greatly received (coming from a wannabe ultrarunner)." Chris - November 2014

"It was a fab weekend and superbly run... Chris did a sterling job getting me through." Keith - May 2014

"Just wanted to thank you for a great weekend... It genuinely was a pleasure to run through such lovely scenery... the route was perfect - the right amount of hills, mud, views and variety to create a great challenge and keep things interesting. It was great to be able to run without having to worry about the clock and just take in the views and chat to the people we were out with. I thought Chris was the perfect guide... the whole weekend was organised very well." John - May 2014
