Background

This is a great 10k to complete before the Christmas season starts! Step onto great trails and escape urban life. We follow some great paths which take in the hills and woodlands of the Chilterns, all led by local expert trail running guides. Along the way we incorporate fun downhill paths banked by trees and head through a nature reserve to where we hope to see wildlife including local deer. As with all our events we want you to learn about the wild as well as become a better runner, so we are on hand to offer technical guidance.

The run will start in Tring. At the end of the run, there is a great coffee shop within walking distance to pick up a post run refreshment or mince pie! The event is easily accessible by rail or road.

All abilities are catered for, so whether you are a new to trail running, just looking to get some miles in an inspiring location, or smash out trails like a pro, you're in good hands. As with all Run the Wild events, it's a team event so you will be grouped with similar ability runners and led by one of our experienced Run Leaders who knows the route and will set the pace for you. We walk anything too steep and it's a good opportunity to get some trail running tips from our leaders along the way as well as meet other trail runners.

ACCOMMODATION & TRANSPORT

You will need to arrange your own transport to the start of the adventure in Tring, but there are regular trains from London Euston to Tring Station which take around 40 minutes and is 1.7 miles to the meeting point which can either by walked (takes 30 minutes) or alternatively there is a taxi rank. There is pay & display parking should you prefer to drive. Accommodation is available nearby, please get in touch if you would like any recommendations.

ABILITY

We will group participants by their ability but you need to be able to run 5km non-stop. It's a great event for those new to trail running as well as veterans! The Run Leader will route find and as all with our expeditions you will be expected to run as part of the team. "Signed up for the Winter 10K run with Run the Wild as started running properly just after lockdown 1 and was looking for different experiences. I live locally to them, but was still taken on trail routes I'd never run before - great to explore more of the local area. We were put into small groups in similar abilities - all setting off in different directions but completing the same 10K run, stopping briefly along the way for some trail running training tips and information about the local area. Was a great experience and perfect for getting into trail running or stretching out the distances - everyone is catered for." Andrew - December 2020

"Today was really good fun and it was also well done with the groups and all the covid protocols. I really appreciate all the running tips and encouragement a from Karin! Thank you! Caroline - December 2020

"I run regularly with RTW and events are always well organised and friendly. Great introduction to trail running in a beautiful part of the country." Peter - December 2020

"Very good trail training run, friendly to all abilities. The small group of 6 runners allowed us to keep safe and interactive at the same time. Our leader was very good and also thought us few trail running strategies. The views must have been beautiful but due to fog we didn’t see much! A lovely day out in a friendly and low key atmosphere, I really enjoyed it!" Ludovica - December 2020

"We enjoyed today and we thought everything was organised really well. Sophie (our guide) was fab!" Katerina - December 2020
