RUN THE WILD HALF MARATHON

This half marathon running adventure based in the Chiltern Hills is a great way to discover what Run the Wild is all about! You will be running a distance of around 13 miles over the stunning undulating chalk hills and through local woods, led by local English Athletics qualified Run Leaders.

It’s an easily accessible event, just 30 minutes North West of London by rail or road. All abilities are catered for. So whether you are a new to trail running, just looking to get some miles in an inspiring location, training for a race, or looking to complete your first trail half, then this is the event for you. Along the way you will experience our famous hospitality and enjoy a well stocked refreshment point just over halfway. The route we follow in the Spring is slightly different to the Autumn edition so you can enjoy both events!

We group runners by ability and include trail running instruction during the event. We walk anything steep and it’s a perfect opportunity to explore the Chilterns, meet the RtW team and experience a running adventure that gives you a taster of our multi-day routes. The event will finish by around 1pm depending on your pace.

We hope to see you there!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

“Completed the Spring Half Marathon Trail Run this week. Completed my first ever run at this distance. Brilliant day out, very well organised, the guides are excellent and the tips on technique are very welcome. The checkpoint was better than most over experienced on cycling sportives/charity rides. Will certainly be back to take part in something with Run The Wild again.”

“I did Run The Wild’s trail half marathon and had the most wonderful time. Organisation was fantastic, beautiful route, and our run group leader Adrian was brilliant. Everyone from RTW was so friendly too, and even accommodated moving me to a slower run group due to an injury last minute. Can’t recommend RTW enough!”

“Really well organised trail running event – perfect for beginners and experienced runners alike. Guides were super friendly and shared useful tips to help improve trail running technique. There was flexibility to move up or down a pace group during the run if you were finding it too easy / too hard which made it accessible and enjoyable for all. Snacks at the half way checkpoint were the best of any event I’ve done – we were lucky to get sausage rolls and mini eggs amongst other things! Would definitely recommend Run the Wild and would look to book another event with them in the future. Thanks for a fab Saturday trail run!”

“Did my first trail half marathon with Run the Wild in The Chilterns – and I can’t recommend them enough. Utterly fantastic event. So well organised and managed. But the cherry on top is the ethos and chilled vibe…a great way to run a half marathon. I will definitely be back.”

“I decided to give a trail half marathon a go and am so glad I chose to do it with Run the Wild – I absolutely loved it! The event was really organised and it was nice to run in groups and have that community feel rather than going all out for a PB. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something different from the typical road half marathon.”

“Great company and community ♥️ my first half marathon through the chilterns was thoroughly enjoyable. The team did an amazing job arranging the event and looking after everyone through the run. Sausage rolls and mini eggs at the check point was a highlight!”

“Third HM with Run the Wild & they never disappoint. Excellent organisation, knowledgeable guides offering encouragement when needed & tips on technique for running hills and mud, great route – even with the mud –
welcome half way snacks & lovely fellow runners. This is a perfect introduction to trail running if you haven’t done it or the HM distance before, but faster experienced runners are accommodated too. Everyone’s grouped by ability and no one is left behind. If I lived nearer I’d run the spring & autumn HMs every year.”

“Completed my first trail half marathon with @runthewilduk on Saturday and absolutely loved it! It was so nice to go out on a run and explore some areas of the Chilterns I’ve never seen before, getting to run with a group of people and a snack station half way round plus a medal at the end. What more could you want?!”

“The guides were incredibly positive, encouraging, passionate, informative, keen to draw on our environment (wild garlic!) loving the holistic experience not just the running. Tons of tips and expertise. It was life-affirming 13miler, the longest and happiest run I’ve completed in a long time, among like-minded folks and dogs!”

“Great fun events. Not races, but sociable and interesting tours around beautiful areas to run in. Was rather sceptical in advance since felt like a waste of an opportunity for a timed run, but they were true to their word and it was great fun, despite the most ridiculously muddy conditions in the Chilterns after two weeks of rain. Much more enjoyable than a competitive race. Well guided (thanks Kat), very well organised (thanks Simon and RtW team) and something we will do again.”
