superbly hosted by Simon and his team. The hotel was superb with amazing wellness facilities and food, the running trails were great and the opportunity to meet like minded people was really what made it so special. Chamonix is a special place, especially in the warmer months. If you’d like an intro to alpine running, look no further it’s awesome!!!!”

“We had such a great experience with the Run the Wild team in the Alps, they know loads about the trails and local area in and around Mont Blanc. We felt safe, challenged enough, but at a level that everyone could complete the runs each day. The hotel was in a lovely spot, with pool and spa access and very convenient opposite Chamonix Sud bus stop. We had opted for the yoga add on which made for an excellent cool-down each afternoon. Can’t wait for another adventure soon!”

JEN | CHILTERNS TRAIL MARATHON | APRIL 2026

trail runners in the chilterns taking part in the run the wild half marathon in the springtime

“Thank you Run the Wild for another great morning of running. I love running with Run The Wild, Ive done their 10k and the half marathon twice (which used different routes). They have runs of varying length, and every one of their events is well organised, with enthusiastic and friendly professional guides who look after you during the run and give you helpful trail running tips. They also have great merchandise available. It really is not a race, there is nothing competitive about it. You are grouped up with people of a similar running ability, and you run the route together at a conversational pace. Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to look at the surrounding scenery and take photos (and plenty of group photos as well), as well as getting to meet some lovely people. There is a well stocked rest station about half way around the route with drinks and snacks. Be warned that it is a hilly route, but most of the trails are good quality. I’d highly recommend Run the Wild, and look forward to running with them again in the future.”

Trail runners in the Chiltern Hills taking part in a Run the Wild half marathon event

Fantastic organisation! Me and my sister came to Run the Wild because we wanted to try trail running with some nice people. They did not disappoint!

We got grouped up based on our pacing. We decided to go in the last group which meant we could enjoy the scenery, have a good chat while getting some good miles in (13.7 precisely!) Our group guide, Andy, was the perfect balance of friendly, supportive and encouraging. He taught us lots about the local area of the Chilterns and gave us some helpful tips for running up and down hills (no longer quite the enemy they were before).

The check point had the most amazing spread of snacks and drinks! The route itself was beautifully scenic and varied – views for days and stunning woodland trails. All of the other staff we met were incredibly friendly. Their merch is all very high quality and beautifully designed. It’s clearly a well organised event, super inclusive and really fun! If you’re nervous about running in groups or long distances, you’ll be in safe hands with Run the Wild. I just wish I lived closer or I’d be back sooner!

I am new to trail running so learned absolutely loads about all aspects of the sport from Simon, our super knowledgeable run leader . The trail itself was beautiful as well, very jealous I don’t have this on my door step. We unfortunately had an injury in our group during the run but the run leaders were first class at dealing with it and making adjustments so the injured person could carry on at a manageable pace.
